1. Starting a jiujitsu can be intense, but keeping a cool head can change up your game and allow you to see more and feel more without that anxious feeling; following our Pre-training guide can help combat these feelings and ensure a healthier and more easy training session.
2. Like in the pre-training guide, keep those goals in mind while training, focus on what exactly you want to improve and try to learn ways around it during rolls.
3. Be open-minded, don't be afraid to make mistakes, ask others for help if you get lost and learn from others if someone gives you some help.
4. Be patient with yourself and others; it can get frustrating learning so much, try to take it easy on yourself; we all started there and eventually go back to the drawing board sometimes. Good sportsmanship is vital in jiujitsu; making sure not to lose your head in rolls and being kind is more important than being the best.
5. Slow down; starting off in rolls and drills, people tend to panic and speed up, which can result in injuries for you and others. Don't speed up; take it slow; make sure when you move, you understand why, and if you're confused, don't be afraid to tell them I'm new. Can you explain this to me? Nothing is worse than someone who doesn't know acting as they do and hurting themselves! You gain a lot of respect when people see you're eager to learn correctly, which will introduce more help. Suppress that ego and Tap!
